Today in school we had our second lesson of The Arrival with the kids. We introduced the book to they years 8s and they seemed to enjoy the lessons, but still didn't offer as much as the year 7s did. I really enjoy teaching the kids and hearing all their ideas and interpretations of the story, as they all think of things differently and we got some really interesting results when we did the same exercise as yesterday where we put up their answers from the sheets onto the board. Getting the class involved in open discussions like this has worked really well for us so far.
Tomorrow is meant to be our day off, but we got permission from Andrew and Clive to take over their classes tomorrow to start with story writing based on The Arrivals themes. Andrew thought it would be better to keep the flow going for this week, so the story is still fresh in the kids' minds. He did suggest we could then take the Friday off, which is really tempting, but I'm struggling to get the hour in for my work experience even while doing extra work at home. Here's hoping I can find the hours somewhere:/
After school, Reece and I had planned to just go home to do some assingments, but then got a text from Laura asking if we wanted to go into Madrid with her and Eloah. We went with it and had a little shopping trip around the city for the evening which was nice. Story writing update to follow tomorrow!
Til then,
Ciara
