Group 1's Story

Trinity Library is an extraordinary place. An informative place, filled with curious people. Everything about Trinity Library calls out ‘elegant’, from its spacious, wooden interior to the rows of exhibited books and large columns. An air of mystery climbs the stairs. The floor is very shiny and the green ropes act as barriers which show that there are important books there.
This library is a mysterious place where people and come and go, each minding their own business and here, seemingly, for just one thing. To explore interesting books. While the rooms are sought after for their quiet, they carry more secrets in their silence than you could ever know.

On the night the 9th of May, a very mysterious thing happened, indeed. A woman was found dead with a knife in her heart.  However, further investigation has revealed that this is not what killed her. The cause of death is still unknown. The woman’s hair had been cut after she was killed and the scissors used were found sticky with her blood and the fingerprints of Willy-rex all over them. Willy-rex claims the scissors came into his possession because he had to buy them in the Chinese shop to protect himself, or to help his child do their homework. One wonders why a man would need to protect himself in a library, but after recent events it seems plausible. He explained to us “If I had killed someone, the scissors would already be broken or would be in the victim’s body.” He was horrified to think that someone used his scissors to cut the woman’s hair. We cannot prove it was Willy-rex who cut the hair or killed this woman. Yet.
The victim has no name. She was found dead without any proof of identity, but she is known by the town’s people for being a very open person and not shy at all. She has brown hair and green eyes. It seemed odd that no one could identify her by name but they were able to recognise her because she was wearing what she always wore - jeans and a sweater combined with trainers.
The murder was reported by none other than Dr. Mec and his student Ana. Ana is half his age and a good student. She does everything quickly and records all her work in her notebook. She is the best student he has ever had. Dr. Mec is a peculiar character, who wears glasses and is always seen in his white cloak. Trinity Library is like a second home to him and he is always found in the science section with his head in a book. His very advanced watch allowed him to pick up on the metal elements in the victim’s blood which brought him directly to the crime scene. On his back he carries a bag of chemicals in case he has to do an emergency experiment and his small but super potent computer! Dr. Mec admitted that the victim was always disturbing him and his lessons with his student Ana. “She was always putting her nose in things that weren’t her business” he said. Despite his irritation with the victim, everyone knows that he isn’t a criminal, only a mad doctor! Dr. Mec reported to us that some of his chemicals were missing from his bag and it was he, who pointed us in the direction of our prime suspect – Dani Prada.
Dani Prada is a very silent man. He likes being on his own because it means he can think about all of his thoughts, all of the time - without anyone disturbing him. He always wears his hood up because he doesn’t want people to talk about him. This means no one knows who he is or what he really looks like. As a result of his disguise, his facial features could not be described or drawn by the police sketch artists. Dr. Mec had seen Dani wandering around the library the evening of the murder. He seemed to show little interest in reading but lingered around the restricted section. Dr. Mec didn’t pay much attention at the time but when he looked again, Dani had disappeared. A key was found, placed in the hand of the victim but it was not her fingerprints that were found on it. It was an old and rusty key that allowed access to the restricted area of the library. Dani Prada’s fingerprints were covering its entirety.
The detectives interrogated Dani Prada and asked him where he was the night of the murder. He admitted to being in the library earlier that afternoon. “I found the rusty key in between the wooden railings on the stairs” he claimed, and it excited him. He wanted to explore the restricted section and preferred the quiet space there where no one could disturb him. Dani was nervous when being questioned which led the detectives to believe he was guilty, but just as he was about to be taken in for further questioning, Ana, Dr. Mec’s student appeared and said that she could verify that he had not been in the library that night, no one had. The question was, how did she know that there wasn’t anyone in the library? Ana realised her mistake. “No one, except Dr. Mec and I…” she stumbled.
No one had questioned Ana and no one thought of her to be someone worth questioning. She is not very tall and she is skinny. She was wearing a black jumper and trousers and just went about her own business. A notebook had been found at the crime scene, which had recordings of everything from mathematical formulas and records of how much the person had run. The detectives assumed that this notebook belonged to the victim as she was an athletic woman and it was found in her possession. However, the detectives were wrong. As the crime scene was being investigated, a hair was found. A strand of short brown hair that matched the DNA of Ana.

Trinity Library is a place of secrets and stories. Ana could no longer hide her secrets and she confessed the full truth to the detectives. Ana tried to create a story of her own. She thought she could frame Dr. Mec for the murder of the woman on the night the 9th of May. She had seen the way the woman irritated Dr. Mec when they were working, so she thought it would be reason enough for him to kill her. She was mistaken. Jealousy is a terrible thing and Ana envied the woman she killed. The victim was smarter than her and faster than her. She wanted nothing more than to be her. After killing her, she cut her hair to make her uglier and stabbed a knife into her chest because Dr. Mec always carried a knife in his coat pocket. Dr. Mec believed Ana was the best student he ever had and never thought much about the victim until the day she was found dead. While he was watching Dani Prada sneak around the restricted section, Ana took chemicals from his bag and so the cause of death was revealed to be chemical poison.
